Are you headed to the Oregon Coast with your dog this summer?  Dogs love to explore on the beach,  there are so many new and wonderful scents, so many places to explore.  The many dog friendly parks and trails will provide you and your dog hours of shared fun and an oporunity to appreciate the beautiful scenery.

While exploring we ask that you keep you dogs safety in mind.

 Sunburn

While dogs do not get sunburned as easily as humans they can get sunburned.  If your dog is going to be playing on the beach for hours, a dog friendly sunscreen is a good idea.  Be sure to get the bridge of the nose, tips of the ears and belly, these are the most likely places for a dog to get burned.

Waves

Many dogs love to play in the surf, and there is nothing like a good game of fetch on the beach.  No matter how good a swimmer your dog may be, a wave can still knock them off their feet.  Keep a close eye on how far out your dog is going.

Jellyfish

Dogs are naturally curious and lets face it a jellyfish is a pretty strange looking creature.  It can also be a very dangerous creature.  A jellyfish sting can be very painful.

Falls

There are many great places to hike with your dog on the Oregon Coast, many of these trails are cliff trails. When hiking these trails keep your dog on a leash to prevent any mishaps.

Be Prepared

When exploring the coast with your best friend, being prepared is the best advice we can offer.  Have a first aid kit handy, include items such as a muzzle and pet first aid guide.
