In an unusual project, Pauline Zonneveld, a people and pet photographer who lives in West Linn, documents dogs in their twilight years. The portraits, part of a series called the good old dog project, celebrate the fortitude of dogs approaching the end of their life.

The dogs that struggle to get around, especially  a strike a cord in my heart. More than once, I have had to fight back tears while photographing geriatric dogs. Each time I document old dogs, I am struck by their unique charm, special beauty, and their strong determination and can’t help but fall in love. Rebecca Wolfe is  a local freelance artist and 'pitmom' .  Who is seeking support for a painting project that she recent launched on Kickstarter.com. 

"I'm trying to raise funds to create a series (15-20) of portraits of pitbulls at local shelters and rescues that would then be auctioned to raise funds for those shelters.  The focus of the project is to help pitbulls"  Rebecca explains.  "I love pits and they're  in need of a lot of help -but in addition to the pitbull rescues, this project will also benefit a pit-friendly all-breed dog shelter and a couple of rescues that take in everything from dogs and cats to hamsters and lizards."

A Man and His Dog

They say no relationship is more pure than a boy and his dog.  What about a man and his dog?  His so very special, trusty companion and always dependable Sammie. 

Sammie was a beautiful chocolate lab; selected from a Christmas Day litter of six at just 4 weeks old.  Her mother was too sick to care for her pups so they were cut loose sooner than recommended.  He chose Sammie because she looked strong, ready to take on the world.  Little did he know how deep the connection between him and this little chocolate puppy with huge paws would be. 

From the beginning he knew Sammie’s fate.  From the beginning he knew it would be years of dedication and hard work.  From the beginning he knew what Sammie was born to be.  She was born to be the Best Hunting Dog EVER!
