Dog Training – Dog No Command

The ‘no’ command is a widely used command throughout dog training and is used to tell your dog not to do something or to stop them in their tracks to avoid dangerous situations or general bad behavior.

I think of the no command as more of a training technique rather than a command and to perfect the technique you will need to be consistent for most of your time with your pet dog. The no command isn’t like other commands and is taught over several years rather than a ‘learn it and forget it’ dog training technique.

Dog Training ? Dog Punishments

There are many different punishments for getting your dog to learn the difference between right and wrong, and there are many dog trainers that will tell you that their method is the best way or that a different type of punishment, whether it be positive or negative punishment, is better than the method you’re using now.

Dogs need punishment to keep them in order and to teach them what is acceptable and what is not, without some form of punishment there would be no way of showing your dog these things, and no way of training them.

There are two types… Continue reading

Where can I get formal education on dog nutrition?

Ive found a few colleges where you can study general animal nutrition, but the focus is on zoo animals.

Vets dont get crap for education on nutrition.

Is there any formalized program anywhere for it? Even just something with a certificate at the end? It needs to be done if it isnt.

Ive learned quite a bit from the internet and books, but you can never be sure of the reliability and some credentials are needed to be able to get people to listen to you when you try to help them… Continue reading

Dog Rescue

There are some instances where dogs need to be taken away from their owners as these people have proved to be neglectful and sometimes abusive pet owners. To help get these innocent animals to safety there are different types of dog rescue groups. These various groups are comprised of professionals in the animal world like vets, animal handlers, and dog walkers.

When these people are informed about a neglected dog they begin the dog rescue process. To make sure that the owners will not cause any problems sometimes the local police will be informed. Once the dog rescue has been… Continue reading

Dog Health – What is the Single, Most Important Thing You Can Do to Keep it?

It seems that dog health is on the decline. Depending on the breed, dogs can live to 20 years or more. Today, you’re lucky if they reach eight. Why is this?Years ago, dogs were fed table scraps, kitchen scraps and homemade food, as commercial pet food hadn’t been invented. The table scraps were more healthy then, as junk food didn’t abound.Years ago, it was rare to take a dog to a veterinarian. Vets, as doctors, were only visited when deemed absolutely necessary. And yet, still dogs lived longer.Could there be a connection between dog health today and their diet?In my opinion… Continue reading
