Va. Beach police investigate two suspicious deaths
VIRGINIA BEACH Police are investigating a pair of suspicious deaths discovered at a residence in Timberlake Thursday morning. Police received a call about 11:40 requesting that an officer check on a resident living in the 4000 block of Barkleaf Drive, said Officer Adam Bernstein, a police spokesman. When the officer arrived, he found an injured dog and two deceased individuals inside, he said.

Va. Beach pit bull attack draws national attention
VIRGINIA BEACH   Karen Grumm heard her 6-year-old standard schnauzer Aly yelping Saturday afternoon and ran downstairs to find the dog and her neighbors’ two pit bull-German shepherd mixes in her living room covered in blood.   The neighbor’s dogs had dug under the fence into her backyard and attacked Aly, Grumm said.

Hallandale Beach is named in honor of Luther Halland who was its founder. Halland was working for Henry Flagler during the late 19th century and was asked to go to Florida and create a settlement near a town known as Dania Beach.
