This article recently ran in an Oregon News Paper, how sad is it that that the school superintendent didn’t bother to learn the facts, and relied on popular myth. The dog safety program had recently switched to the pit bull from a golden retriever, because the golden got too excited and jumped on the kid and they were afraid someone would get hurt. Fostering a dog for a rescue group can be hard, you know the dog needs a home and someone to
love them, it is hard to give them up. It’s not for everyone, but that doesn’t mean you can’t foster a pet.
Could you foster a pet, if you knew it had a home, and a loving owner , an owner that you could communicate with regularly, an owner that is will to fight for your freedom. Fostering a dog, cat or other pet for deployed military personal is a great way to say thank you for their service to this country. And if this doesn’t cure your foster woes nothing will. Not every vacation is pet friendly, so sometimes you have to leave your best friend at home with a pet sitter, at a boarding kennel, or pet hotel.
I visited several boarding kennels and dog hotels to see what the different options were. Started asking questions, I surveyed a several dog owners, who's dogs cover a wide range of breeds, ages, temperaments and energy levels, to find out what their owners looked for when selecting boarding kennel or pet hotel for their dogs.
Anyone who has trained a dog knows how important it is, not only to the well being of the dog, but also to the dog’s family and society as a whole.
That is only one of the reasons dog enthusiasts from all over the state have come together to pass HB3653. This bill clarifies the state Exclusive Farm Use (EFU) Statute so that there will be no question that dog training and related dog activities are permitted uses. Because dog activities are not specifically mentioned in the statute, some counties have interpreted the language to mean that dog activities are not legitimate uses.
Hundreds of Oregon Dog Lovers and their best friends are rallying at the capitol in Salem on Monday, April 11, to throw their support behind the passage of HB 3047 which if passed would specifically allowDog Training on exclusive farm use land. Currently the statute interprets dog training as being outside the boundaries of permitted land useand many training facilities throughout Oregon have been closedin the last few years resulting in a loss of revenue for the state and a source of training for dog enthusiasts.
