The Oregon Humane Society’s Education Department is seeking young artists and writers with a humane vision to enter the 2011 Be Kind to Animals Poster and Photo/Essay Event. Last year nearly 3,000 entries were submitted by students throughout the state. The event is now in its 63rd year.

As many of you know Fido and I foster for Oregon Dog Rescue, each week we invite a dog to come stay
with us. We spend the week working with our guest teaching them skills to help them find a home. My job is to make sure their play skills are top notch, will Fido teaches cuddling and looking cute.
That’s why we are really excited that our friends at Oregon Dog Rescue have taken a big step forward in being able to help out even more dogs. It’s been a long time coming but Oregon Dog Rescue will soon have a new facility. Their new location will be at 6700 Nyberg Road, right across the street from the Tualatin Pet Smart, where they will continue to hold weekly adoptions.

Willamette Humane Society Hosts “Bowser’s Boo Bash”
New Online Catalog Lets Party-goers Preview Auction Items
(Salem, OR) — Ghosts, ghouls and other funny and frightful creatures will descend on Salem for Willamette Humane Society’s signature event, Bowser’s Boo Bash. This year’s dinner and auction, presented by Capitol Subaru, will be held Saturday, October 29, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Salem Conference Center.
Guests will enjoy a three-course meal, wine, beer, live musical entertainment, and the opportunity to bid on unique items during both the silent and live auctions. Nearly all of the silent and live items that will be auctioned off at Bowser’s can be viewed in a new online catalog on Willamette Humane’s website at www.willamettehumane.org
