Hands On Canine Massage

Why canine massage?

From puppy to adult, most dogs live a very active life, participating in play, exercise, athletic activities, competition and possibly working as a guide or rescue dog.

Strength and flexibility are essential for keeping a dog’s (or human’s) body vigorous and healthy for a lifetime. When dogs engage in repetitive activities, their muscles contract over and over again. If the muscles are not stretched and lengthened from time to time, they have a tendency to tighten and shorten. This can cause problems not only for the muscles, but also the surrounding tendons and joints.

Dog Safety dog banned from school

This article recently ran in an Oregon News Paper,  how sad is it that that the school superintendent didn’t   bother to learn the facts,  and relied on popular myth.  The  dog safety program had recently switched to the pit bull from  a golden retriever, because the golden  got too excited and jumped on the kid  and they were afraid someone would get hurt. If you’d like to share your thoghts with  Mr. Glaze his email is Larry.Glaze@lagrande.k12.or.us

Military Pets

soldier and dog reunion

Fostering a dog for a rescue group  can be hard,  you know the dog needs a home  and someone tosoldier and dog reunion love them,  it is hard to give them up.  It’s not for everyone,  but that doesn’t mean you can’t foster a pet.

Could you foster a pet,  if you knew it had a home,  and a loving owner ,  an owner that you could communicate with regularly, an owner that is will to fight for your freedom.   Fostering a dog,  cat or other pet for deployed military personal is a great way to say thank you for their service to this  country. And if this doesn’t cure your foster woes nothing will.

Summer Heat Can Be Deadly For Your Dog

Summers in Oregon are a great time for you and your pet to be outside together.  However, the recent death of a young dog left unattended in a vehicle at a local shopping center is a startling reminder for pet owners to leave pets at home when running errands and to take necessary precautions when the mercury rises.  Leaving your animal in a parked car, even for a short time, can easily cause heat stroke or brain damage.  On an 85 degree day, a car’s interior temperature can climb to 120 degrees in 20 minutes, even with the windows slightly… Continue reading

STAM Dog Treats

STAM has been producing grain-free dog treats commercially since 2007. We started out as others do – in a shared commercial kitchen. In 2009, we moved into our own dedicated bakery in Wood Village; and not a day too soon.

We have two dogs: Sammy big boy and Princess Stella cookie pants (shown left). Sam has no allergies and Stella is allergenic to just about everything. We couldn’t find treats suitable for Stella so we started making our own. We would share our extras with friends and soon after, STAM was born. We don’t have baking backgrounds so we… Continue reading
