Sping has Sprung

Spring is finally here,  and we are starting to get sunny days to play in the dog park.  It's the time of year when life can get busy for a dog.  Lots of events,  parks to play in and things to smell.

The biggest pet event of the year are coming  May 7 &8,  NW Pet & Companion Fair,  at the Portland Expo Center.  You won't want to miss this show. Stop by the FidosCityGuide Workshop Stage for lots of fun demos and informative information.

It’s time for the dog friendly events

There is so much going on right now.  We are getting ready for the NW Pet & Companion Fair May 7 and 8.  Fido is looking forward to the Wild Child Pet Fashion Show at the fair,  and Lady is all excited about the k-9 Nose Work Demo,  since her visit to the Nose Work Trials.

Everyone is really worried about Japan,  and making an effort to help.  Castor and Pollux is sending pet food to help out the pets.

November is National Canine Cancer Awareness Month

The National Canine Cancer Foundation would like to invite you to join them in washing away canine cancer,  with a National Dog Wash.  Donate $5 to National Canine Cancer and receive a NDW kit including John Paul Pet shampoo.  Take photo's or a video of your dog getting his bath, and upload them to the National Dog Wash Website.

Canine Cancer affects one out of every three dogs. Of those, over half of them will die of cancer. The National Canine

The Canine Cancer group will be Moderated by Nancy Elston the Portland Coordinator for the National Canine Cancer Foundation.   If you have a question or need information please feel free to ask.  If you have a dog who is suffering from a form of canine cancer please feel free to share your story.    Offer your support or shed a tear there are others at Fido’s Lounge who will understand and support you.

H1N1 Confirmed in New York Dog

The first canine case of H1N1 has been confirmed in the United States.  A 13 year old mixed breed dog in New York has tested positive for the virus.  The dog was taken to the vet and test for Dog Flu and Swine Flu.  The results were negative for Dog Flu but positive for Swine Flu.   His owner was currently being treated for Swine Flu and it is believed that the dog caught the flu from it’s owner.   X-rays showed the dog was also suffering from pneumonia. After hospitalization and treatment including antibiotics the dog was released and is recovering at home.  Reports are that both the dog and it’s owner are doing well.… Continue reading
