Photo Contest Winners

Crush loves his yogurt and everyone loves Crush.  This little yorkie with is nose buried deep in a yogurt cup cleaned up in this months photo contest.  I don’t think Lexi Dog sells yogurt but I’m sure Crush will find something just as good to spend his winnings on.

The “Wee bit Irish”  found his pot of gold in second place.  Third place went to a pair of “best friends”  that  joined the contest late, but  attracted lots of attention.

Winners will each recieve a gift certificate for… Continue reading

Dogs are not law or recession proof

By Barbara Roach, Volunteer Oregon Dog Rescue

Oregon HB 2470, better known as the “Puppy Mill Law” becomes enforceable January 1, 2010. This law limits ‘breeders’ to owning no more that 50 sexually intact dogs two years or older, the intent is that this will discourage puppy mill breeders from operating in Oregon. It also specifies conditions under which pet “dealers” must provide refunds, replacement, or reimbursement if a dog is found to suffer from certain diseases or birth defects. This will offer recourse to purchasers who learn that their puppy has serious emotional or health problems. Besides limiting the number of dogs, the bill spells out exercise, space and cleaning requirements for pups. The dogs can’t be kept in stacked cages, and breeders must maintain health records for each dog, including the date of birth and size of litters. Pet stores must disclose information about the dog’s breeder. The maximum punishment for violating the provisions is six months in jail, a $2,500 fine or both.

After hospitalization and treatment including antibiotics the dog was released and is recovering at home.  Reports are that both the dog and it’s owner are doing well.… Continue reading

Adventures for Dogs in the city

I know lots of dogs don’t get to have the adventures I do, but I recently heard about a new service being offered for dogs who’s humans can’t take them on adventures. Fido and I are really lucky, our humans are able to take us on adventures almost everyday, but I know not all dogs are so lucky. In today’s hectic world most humans just can’t spend 2-3 hours twice a week playing and hiking with their best friend. I’m sure they would love to, but it just isn’t always possible.… Continue reading
